The pests we treat most in Montreal
Mice
Mouse season really starts in October: once nights drop below freezing, mice move into the warmth of the walls. A mouse fits through a 6 mm gap. In a duplex or triplex, the voids between floors and the shared walls connect the units, so treating one apartment often just moves the problem next door. Control means inspection, secured bait stations and, above all, sealing the way in.
Rats
The rat of Montreal's back lanes is the Norway rat. It burrows under sheds, slabs and composters, and travels through the sewers. Burrows along the foundation or greasy rub marks at the base of walls are telltale signs. It is controlled outdoors with locked bait stations, and by closing off access to the building.
Cockroaches
Almost every cockroach found in a Montreal apartment is a German cockroach. A single egg case holds around thirty eggs; they live near warmth and moisture (kitchens, bathrooms) and move between units through ducts and baseboards. Store-bought sprays scatter them without dealing with the colony; effective treatment relies on well-placed gel baits and follow-up visits. Our guide to German cockroaches in Montreal housing covers the preparation.
Bed bugs
On July 1st, tens of thousands of Quebec households move on the same day. Mattresses and couches left on the sidewalk carry bed bugs from one neighbourhood to the next. They have nothing to do with how clean a home is. A treatment that works takes serious preparation (bedding and clothes washed, then dried for at least 30 minutes on the highest heat), an inspection of neighbouring rooms, and a second visit for the eggs that hatch after the first. See also how to keep them from coming back.
Carpenter ants
Montreal has a lot of exposed wood: balconies, outdoor staircases, galleries. Carpenter ants don't eat wood; they hollow it out where it is damp or damaged. Large black ants indoors in spring often point to a nest in the structure, not just in the yard.
Wasps
From July to September, nests hide under balconies, in eaves and in hedges. A nest by a door or a play area is worth treating rather than living with.

How Montreal's buildings change the treatment
Plexes and shared walls
Much of Montreal lives in duplexes, triplexes and small apartment buildings. Mice, cockroaches and bed bugs move between units. A lasting treatment is planned for the affected unit and its neighbours, not for a single door.
Older buildings
Stone foundations, crawl spaces, pipe chases: there are many ways in. The inspection is first and foremost about finding them, because treating without sealing only buys time.
Back lanes and brown bins
Food waste, composters and sheds draw rats. Managing them is part of the solution, as much as the bait.
Restaurants and food businesses
In Montreal, food establishments are inspected by City inspectors on behalf of MAPAQ. Cockroaches or rodents can lead to required corrective action, and even prosecution. A documented preventive program protects you before the inspection, not after.

Your call
Tell us what you are seeing: which insect or sign, in which room, since when. A photo helps a lot. Our line answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the estimate is free.
The inspection
The technician identifies the species, gauges how far the infestation has spread, and looks for how it gets in or moves around: baseboards, ducts, foundations, neighbouring units. This step decides the right treatment.
The plan and the treatment
You get a plan fitted to your home or business, including what to prepare before we arrive. The treatment combines the methods your case calls for, chosen to protect the people and pets who live there.
Follow-up and guarantee
Some infestations need more than one visit, and we tell you so up front. Our treatments are guaranteed over a period agreed at the start. If the bugs come back during that period, so do we.
For homes and apartments
For a one-off problem, a targeted treatment. To stop thinking about it, our Bronze, Gold and Platinum home protection plans combine perimeter treatments, an audit, indoor treatments and an annual follow-up.

What the law requires of an exterminator in Quebec
A permit and certificates
In Quebec, a company that applies pesticides must hold a permit from the Ministry of the Environment, and each technician a certificate earned by examination (Pesticides Management Code). In Montreal, by-law 21-041 adds an annual City permit for commercial applicators and requires them to keep a record of their treatments. Ask for them from any exterminator you hire.
Tenants and landlords
In Montreal's boroughs, vermin in a dwelling breaches the by-law on the sanitation of housing. Extermination is the landlord's responsibility; the tenant must notify them promptly. The sooner the treatment happens, the simpler and cheaper it is.
Montreal pest control: frequently asked questions
How much does an exterminator cost in Montreal?
It depends on the pest, how far the infestation has spread, how many units need treating and how many visits it takes. A mouse in a garage and bed bugs in a triplex are not the same job. That is why the estimate is free: you get a price for your situation, not a generic range.
